Hilke is known as a specialist in linocutting: a traditional and highly skilled craft, derived from woodcutting.
Linocutting is Hilke's preferred printmaking technique and involves carving the image with a knife out of a block of linoleum, producing a tactile three dimensional print block. The process is finished by painting the block in ink and printing onto paper with a traditional press.
The artwork Hilke created for our 2019 Release presentation box, titled' St Andrews', is inspired by pivotal moments in the Eden Mill story and features famous landmarks of the St Andrews and Guardbridge coastline.
